Viewers call for Steph McGovern to get Have I Got News for You job full time
Have I Got News For You viewers have called for guest presenter Steph McGovern to be given the job permanently - after fans praised her performance after the show aired last night (26 October).
The BBC Breakfast presenter was in fine form as she presented the show wearing a ‘Girly Swot’ jumper, a swipe at Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s much derided insult of former PM David Cameron.
One viewer took to Twitter to say: “Just caught up with #HIGNFY, Steph M should have that gig permanently.”

When asked about the jumper online, Steph responded: “The Girly Swot jumper is one I came up with, with my mate @jamesmobbs and then we got @balconyshirts to print.
“So we’re gonna work out a way people can buy them and link it to charity somehow. So watch this space. I’ll tweet about it soon.”
The #GirlySwot jumper....designed by @jamesmobbs +me, you can now get from @balconyshirts.
£5 of each sold will go to @Rubiescharity — helping to build confidence in young girls.

From the sounds of it, the garment will be in some demand.
For those for think McGovern should get the role fulltime, they may have to wait for around nine months to a year, as the star confirmed it will be her last appearance on TV while pregnant, and she is expected to take maternity after the baby arrives.
She tweeted before the show: “Tonight 9pm on BBC One - bump’s final outing on the tellybox. I’m hosting ‘Have I Got News for You’”

The show has been a staple of British television since first being aired in 1990. It has been hosted by a series of guest presenters since Angus Deayton left in 2002.
