Vigil Held for El Paso Shooting Victims in Neighboring City of Las Cruces

A vigil for the victims of the El Paso shooting of Saturday, August 3, was held on the Monday evening in neighboring city of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

This footage shows vigil participants in the Plaza de Las Cruces holding candles and swaying to the sound of music to show solidarity with their neighbors in El Paso.

Local Las Cruces councilman Gabe Vasquez was reported as saying that El Paso was part of the same community as Las Cruces.

“We have one community: that’s Juarez, Las Cruces and El Paso,” Vasquez said. “I don’t think we have to wait for it to happen in Las Cruces. To me, it’s already happened in Las Cruces.” Credit: Jacqueline Devine/Sun-News via Storyful
