The Kidlington community is getting ready for a fun annual tradition with the return of the summer parish fete.

The Kidlington with Hampton Poyle's Parish Fete will take place around the grounds of Kidlington's St Mary's Church on Saturday, July 6, from 12.30pm to 4pm.

The day - continuing a more than 30-year history - will feature a traditional fete day with stalls and attractions for the whole family.

A fire engine will be on hand with a "paint a vicar" activity - with new curate Paul this year's volunteer - in addition to a new "people powered game" called the human fruit machine, and the ever-popular dog show.

The dog show will start at 2pm and will include prizes for categories such as waggiest tail, best trick, six best legs, dog fancy dress, best sausage catcher, prettiest pooch and the dog the judge would most like to take home.

Kester the Jester will be there with balloon models throughout the afternoon and a circus skills workshop at 3pm.

A spokesperson for the event said: "The fete is raising money for the general funds of the upkeep, mission and community work of our churches.

"We are hoping to exceed our fete record of £5,000 this year."
