Are you prepared for an evil Vin Diesel? Buckle your seatbelts, because that's exactly what The Fate of the Furious Super Bowl trailer gives us.

For seven movies now, we've seen that nothing is more important to Dominic Toretto (Diesel) than his "family" of vigilante racers. That all changes in the upcoming sequel.

Mysterious crime boss Cipher (Charlize Theron) has wormed her way into the crew's lives, somehow managing to turn Dom to the dark side against those he loves the most.

Now, it's up to US security agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson), Dom's ex Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and even their arch enemy Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham, with some fine one-liners in this new TV spot) to track down Dom and figure out why he's gone bad.

The central conflict between Hobbs and Dom mirrors a real-life on-set feud among the cast, which went public when Dwayne Johnson called Vin Diesel a "candy ass" in an angry Instagram rant.

They seem to have made peace for now, but we doubt Dom will be so lucky when Hobbs lays the smack down on him in the first of three final Fast and Furious movies.

This will be the first movie in the franchise fully filmed after the death of star Paul Walker, although it seems we might not have seen the last of his character Brian O'Conner.

Walker's brothers recently hinted they'd been in talks about using CGI to digitally recreate the actor, with Cody Walker assuring fans: "Universal wants to make sure to be respectful of Paul and his image too, and his family."

The Fate of the Furious races into cinemas on April 14, 2017.
