Everybody knows that the most interesting things always happen behind the scenes, and we have brought you the best celebrity Instagrams and Snapchats from the night to give you a better idea of exactly what went down last night.

Beyonce treated us all to a selection of backstage photos, including this one of herself being preened for the cameras ahead of her red carpet appearance with adorable daughter Blue Ivy.

The US Olympic Gymnast team were the guests of honour at last night’s do, and Aly Raisman shared this close-up of her dress before attending the ceremony.

Britney Spears shared her excitement to be performing at the Awards with this gorgeous backstage photo.

Beyonce shared this photo of little Blue ready to face the waiting paps…

…And of course the coolest mother-daughter duo in town also had to have their own impromptu photoshoot before venturing out.

Teen Mom turned Celebrity Big Brother star Farrah Abraham donned this questionable ensemble as she posed alongside Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan - fancy seeing you here, pet!

Farrah then did what any normal person at the VMAs would do; go on a selfie spree! Next up was a snap with Amber Rose…

…Followed by one with fellow CBB contestant, Frankie Grande - who had jetted back to the States to support his sister Ariana.

Laurie Hernandez couldn’t help but grab Kanye West for a selfie, joking that she loves Kanye more than he loves Kanye.

Frankie Grande took to Instagram to gush about his sister, saying that there were “no words” to describe how proud he is of Ariana, n'aww.

…And she and Kanye West posed alongside the mothers of Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and Oscar Grant, who attended as part of Beyonce’s Lemonade performance.

Of course no Kim Kardashian Snapchat story would be complete without a Snap of herself alongside her BFF Jonathan Cheban.

Rita Ora didn’t let all of that Rihanna drama get the better of her as she enjoyed yet another awesome VMAs.

Ariana Grande took to Instagram to gush about Nicki Minaj, who she performed with and “loves” with all her heart.

Britney Spears thanked her fans and MTV for an “unforgettable night” at the end of the ceremony.

And Beyonce posed this #GirlBoss photo of herself with her BILLIONS of Awards. Okay, eight award, but that’s still a heck of a lot…

Last night was one of the biggest nights in the celebrity calendar, with anybody who is anybody turning up to Madison Square Garden for MTV’s Video Music Awards.

Beyonce arguably stole the show as she performed alongside the whole cast of her ‘Lemonade’ visual album, Kanye West was applauded for his motivational speech, and Rihanna seemingly rejected Drake’s advances as he made a beeline to smooch her whilst she accepted the prestigious Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.

Passenger Bus Crashes Into Saint Petersburg River
A bus crashed off a bridge and into the Moyka River in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, May 10, with local police saying around 20 people were on board.Local media reported that at least five people died, with four “seriously injured”.
