The Walking Dead: Dead City episode 4 spoilers follow.

The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has shared his reaction to a special cameo appearance in the latest episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City, calling it "spectacular".

Morgan, who plays Negan in the spin-off show, shared a flashback scene with actor Steven Ogg, best known as his right-hand man Simon in the original series.

The cameo proved to be a welcome surprise for both fans and Morgan, who shared his delight at sharing the screen with Ogg again.

"I was so happy to get a chance to bring Steven back," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "What an amazing choice — out of all the people in this universe we could have had come back, to have Ogg come back. I'd take him back any f**king time."

Morgan went on to call Ogg "one of the funniest people" he's ever met. "He is a laugh, he is a poet, and he's an individual that is unlike anyone I've ever met," he continued.

"I just adore him, so I feel really lucky to have had him come back. He can have his own f**king series just doing anything and I would watch it."

In the flashback scene, Simon tells the Croat off for torturing a young girl to death, branding him a "Slavic, psychopathic nutjob". Instead of following a direct order to let her go, the Croat had tortured her to extract a confession.

Morgan shared some behind-the-scenes intel from Ogg's cameo, who he praised for his performance.

"We did a rehearsal of that scene just to get our places where the camera needs to see us," he said. "And it was the first day I'd worked with Željko in the whole series as well."

Morgan explained that Steven "went full Ogg", which took Morgan and Željko aback.

"And so in the rehearsal, these two guys are going at it 120 percent. And I was sitting there just watching this going, 'Oh, f**k me. I don't know what they're going to do when the cameras are actually rolling because they're not rolling right now and they're going to kill each other!'," he added.

"It was spectacular. I'm glad I got to be a spectator on that one and just sort of feel it all."

The Walking Dead aired on AMC in the US and STAR on Disney+ in the UK. Dead City airs weekly in the US every Sunday. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
