Yahoo News The Walking Dead season 9 first reviews surface
The last two seasons of The Walking Dead weren't the most popular, it's safe to say. But with a new showrunner taking the reins in Angela Kang, it looks like things are looking up.
The first reviews for the ninth season are out, and the consensus (for the most part) appears to be that episode 1 'A New Beginning' is actually rather good.
ComicBook.com also reviewed up to episode 3, and called the third episode "jaw-dropping".

Then again, season 8 also had a strong opener that quickly led to episodes where the narrative stalled or became almost nonsensical, so one strong episode isn't necessarily enough to right the course of a whole season. Still, for the first time in a long time, The Walking Dead may actually have something of a bright future ahead of it."

The Walking Dead returns on October 7 on AMC in the US, and the following day (October 8) on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
