Many of us dream about coming into some money.

And as a result, we purchase scratchcards, enter competitions and play the lottery. But sadly, it can be disappointing even when you think you've won!

That's exactly what happened to one woman, who felt her heart flutter when a box from the People's Postcode Lottery arrived. Her excitement was short-lived though – as the contents were rather disappointing.

In a far cry from the fat cheques you see being dished out by Jeff Brazier and Danyl Johnson, the box contained a pair of socks.

The content creator captioned her video: "POV [Point of view]: You've seen this envelope come through the door and have already handed your notice in... Least my feet will be warm?" Amusingly, the Abba's The Winner Takes It All provided an ironic soundtrack to the clip.

They're not just any old socks, at least. A note that came with the box reads: "They have been partially manufactured from fishing nets which present a danger to the lives of fish, dolphins and other marine animals. Every time you wear them, your feet not only look great, but you are contributing to a cleaner ocean."

Responding to the video, another lass detailed her lottery anti-climax. She recalled: "My mum won a tiny bottle of hand cream after years of playing and the box was massive."

She's far from the only player to be disappointed, either. Previously, a winner had their "dreams dashed" by finding a letter on their doormat.

Chris Cork, from Greater Manchester, got excited after he thought he had won "a lot of money". To his horror, he actually received a box of soap instead!
