'My thoughts are with you all' - Tributes come in for man, 69, who died in M40 crash

Many tributes have been left for a 69-year-old man who was killed in a crash along the High Wycombe stretch of the M40.

At around 8.55am on Friday, June 28, a BMW motorbike veered across the lanes of the M40 before hitting the central reservation between junction four for High Wycombe and junction five for Stokenchurch.

The rider died at the scene despite the efforts of South Central Ambulance Service.

His next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

Following the incident, Thames Valley Police is asking members of the public for information.

Following the incident, many tributes have been left via social media for the person in question, who hasn’t been publicly named.

Taking to Facebook, Chris Perrin said: “I know it's caused havoc with traffic, my bus hasn't turned up so I missed my hospital appointment but hey.

"So what, it can be re-arranged.

“This guy has lost his life, sending my deepest condolences to his family, may the deceased R.I.P.”

Denise Parrin added: “Very sad… None of us know what happened other than a 69-year-old  gentleman will not be returning home again.

“Condolences to his family and friends and thanks go to all the emergency service workers who attended this incident.

“My thoughts are with you all.”

Lucy Giles said: “Sending hugs and light to the family and friends of the gentleman.

“The emergency services stay safe and thank you for all you do to keep the country going.”

Debrah Adlam added: Thoughts with his family.

“Tailbacks yes, they’re annoying. but I would always rather be caught up in that than be the person at the front - or their loved ones.

“Condolences to them and thoughts also with those who dealt with the accident.”

Temmy Yuss said: “May his soul rest well, may his loved ones find divine strength to carry on.”

Emma Forsyth added: “Such awful news.

“We were caught up in the tail backs earlier [June 28].

“Rip to the poor man.”

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Bettington, of the Roads Policing Department, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones and everyone else involved in dealing with this road traffic collision.

“At this time this collision is not being treated as suspicious but I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward and assist us with our enquiries.

“I’d also ask anyone with a dash-cam who was in the area just prior to or at the time of the collision to check any footage in case it has captured something that could help our investigation.
