Warning of heavy traffic on four motorways due to Green Day concert

An urgent warning has been issued of heavy traffic on four motorways due to the Green Day concert in Glasgow.

Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool will take to the stage at Bellahouston Park in the Southside tonight for their Saviors Tour.

Gates open at 5pm with the main event kicking off at 7pm.

Curfew is at 11pm.

Before crowds of fans make their way to the gig, Traffic Scotland has warned drivers that traffic will be heavier than usual due to the event.

Those who use the M74, M77, M8 and M80 should prepare for heavy traffic before and after the concert.

A spokesperson said: "Green Day make a visit to Bellahouston Park on Tuesday 25th June. Gates open at 17:00 with the main event starting from 19:00.

"We expect traffic to be heavier than normal on the M74, M77, M8 and M80.

"Please consider active travel and public transport options."

They added a reminder that roadworks are being done at the M77 northbound junction 1 off-slip and there is no left turn and M8 junction 23 westbound off-slip closure.

We previously reported that the concert organiser DF Concerts warned visitors of possible strobe lighting, loud noises and other special effects that may be used at the concert.

We have also made a list of banned items that Green Day fans cannot bring to the concert.

These include umbrellas, flares, food and drink and bags larger than A3 size.
