Fugitive Paedophile Surrenders To Police

Police say a paedophile who was wanted for breaching his licence conditions has been arrested after handing himself in.

Officers had warned members of the public not to approach David Chadwick, who comes from Weymouth in Dorset.

The 58-year-old surrendered to officers in Lowestoft, Suffolk, and will be returned to jail.

Police, who carried out to house-to-house checks and looked at CCTV as part of their search, have thanked the public for their help in the investigation.

Chadwick was jailed in 2013 for committing sex offences against children and had recently been released from prison.

Officers said he had been wanted since Wednesday and travelled around Dorset before leaving the county, possibly on Thursday.

He was believed to have taken a train from Weymouth to Moreton on Wednesday, then hitchhiked to Briantspuddle.

Detectives think he travelled by train from Wareham to Brockenhurst, in the New Forest, before possibly heading towards Norwich.

DI Joe Williams, of Dorset Police, said: "Earlier this evening, Saturday 13 February 2016, David Chadwick presented himself to police officers working in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

"He will be immediately recalled to prison.

"I would like to thank members of the public, as well as the media, for their assistance in this investigation."
