Did you know that new Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker survived a run-in with the Daleks five years ago?!

No, the former Broadchurch star didn't film a secret Doctor Who cameo long ago or take a summer holiday to the gorgeous post-apocalyptic terrain of Skaro. Jodie actually met the Daleks at the BAFTA TV Awards, of all places.

In the video above, the Daleks whiz into frame to photobomb Jodie and Broadchurch co-star Andrew Buchan's interview with Jenni Falconer on the red carpet at the BAFTAs in 2013 (via The Radio Times).

Jodie even makes a mention of being excited to see the pepperpots, all while successfully avoiding being exterminated by one of the Daleks' death rays.

Hopefully she'll have the same luck if the 13th Doctor faces off with the Daleks in her first series, which is due to premiere on BBC One in 2018.

The Daleks made a brief appearance in the most recent series, when The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and his companion Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) briefly beamed aboard one of their ships in hopes of outrunning a killer alien puddle in 'The Pilot'.

However, we're certain that those ruthless Daleks lurking on the edges of time and space at this very moment are developing another dastardly scheme to get rid of their greatest enemy.

Maybe try luring her to an awards show next time, Davros?
