Watch: Green Fireball Shoots Across Sky

The sky over Thailand has turned green as what is believed to be a burning meteor was spotted above Bangkok.

The great, green ball of fire was seen falling in the night sky above the country's capital on Monday.

Somsakdi Seubsai, one of the people who caught the moment on camera through the windscreen of his car said: "Suddenly, the sky brightened and then I saw a green linear light shooting down (from the sky)."

The fireball was spotted all over Thailand, including provinces close to Bangkok such as Nonthaburi, Chonburi, and Samutprakan, as well as further away in northeastern Nakhon Ratchsima and Kon Kaen.

Writing on its Facebook page, the Thai Astronomical Society said the shooting star seen from Bangkok could be described as a "fireball", given its brightness.

However, the society added, it did not seem to be posing any risks.
