WATCH: Is Rita Ora giving up on music?
She’s been presenting, modelling and even released a clothing line, but it’s been a while since Rita Ora has shared any new music, so talk show host Wendy Williams took the opportunity to quiz the star on her singing career last week.
The singer’s debut studio album ‘Ora’, released in 2012, went on to achieve measurable success as she reached number one in the UK Albums Chart, with three consecutive singles also reaching the top position.
She was later nominated for four Brit Awards in various categories including ‘British Breakthrough Act’, ‘British Single of the Year’ and ‘British Video’, but besides a few collaborations since then, her music pursuits have taken a backseat.
The 26-year-old became a coach on the fourth series of The Voice UK and, later that year, a judge on the twelfth series of The X Factor whereby she mentored contestant Louisa Johnson to victory.
Keeping her work schedule busy, she then took up hosting duties from Tyra Banks on the new series of America’s Next Top Model, which will be aired on VH1 next year.
Taking stock of all of the evidence, Wendy Williams asked the question on everyone’s minds: “Does Rita care about the singing anymore?”
“Of course!” Rita replied. “The thing is, I’ve been in such a hoo-hah with the music that it kind of turned into a thing where I wanted to out-do myself. So, I started doing other things. And why not? You have an empire!
“That’s what I want to do. Being 26, running America’s Next Top Model, which by the way is one of my favourite shows of all time, I feel like I’m in one of the most powerful positions I’ve ever been in in my life.”
Go on girl!
