Watch: ‘Sexually frustrated’ elephant tosses baby calf into the dirt for ruining his love life

This is the extraordinary moment a “sexually frustrated” elephant kicked and threw a baby calf into the dirt for getting in the way of his love life.

The huge bull was filmed lifting the tiny animal by its trunk and throwing it into the dirt before it returned to kick it over.

Crying out in fear, the baby elephant was soon protected by two female elephants, who stood close in an attempt to head off the bullying male.

Eventually the bull is distracted by the sight of a female elephant and runs off towards it.

The rare footage was filmed by a group of tourists and their guide Jeni Smithies and photographer Lloyd Carter as they visited the Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa.

Jeni said: “I began to video the scene, not knowing that I would capture extremely rare footage of a bull taking out his frustration on the calf that was in his way.

“I was convinced that he was going to crush the calf, we were complexed as to what his intentions were.”

Jeni believes the adult male was taking out his sexual frustration on the poor calf.

She added: “Elephants are usually very protective and we have never seen a bull mishandle a calf.

“I firmly believe that it was sheer sexual frustration.

“The calf was in his way and with severely heightened testosterone levels, he simply took out his frustration on what was between him and all the cows.”
