LOUIS Griffiths scored a sensational solo strike as Oxford United’s Under-18s thrashed Swindon Town.

The U’s won 4-1 in their final home game of the Merit League One season, with the fourth from Griffiths a stunning individual effort.

United were 3-0 up at half-time in the derby, thanks to a Jack Lee opener after six minutes, a Harrison Bradney effort just before the 20-minute mark, and a Leo Snowden goal just before half-time.

Ten minutes into the second half, Griffiths received the ball on the halfway line, and took on at least seven Swindon players, before calmly poking the ball home.

Swindon then scored a late penalty to deny the U’s a clean sheet.

In March, Griffiths played his part in helping Wales reach back-to-back European Under-17 Championships.

The 16-year-old became United’s youngest ever player to represent the club when he was introduced from the bench for the final quarter of an hour as the U’s won 3-1 at Northampton Town in the EFL Trophy earlier this season.

That accolade has since been claimed by Snowden, who became the first 15-year-old to play for United’s first team when he came off the bench against Chelsea Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
