Waterloo Road star Angela Griffin has hinted at how the Danny Lewis storyline will be revisited in the new series.
Adam Abbou will be reprising his role as Danny in the next set of episodes, despite the character's shock arrest earlier this year.
Danny had a huge storyline in Series 11's finale, as he was followed into the school and targeted by dangerous villain Vinnie McCullen. The troubled teen responded by stabbing Vinnie, but he was soon arrested for his crime.
Upcoming episodes see Danny struggling to get his life back on track, as he continues to face an uncertain future.

Angela's character Kim Campbell faces tensions with music teacher Valerie Chambers, who feels that Waterloo Road's head has abandoned Danny.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other press about the new series, Angela explained: "The Danny story is a moral dilemma for Kim. As a human being, all she wants to do is help Danny.
"Pastoral care is all about individual students. But as the headteacher, Kim has to think about the whole entire school, even though that's not natural for her. It's not her natural position at all, so she is massively conflicted.
"Kim would want to help Danny and guide him through. But she can't have someone back in the school who brought a knife into the building – you just can't do that.

"I don't think Kim is open with the students over how conflicted she feels, as she has to remain clear with her viewpoint, but privately she feels very upset and hugely conflicted."
Angela continued: "Val's position is where Kim used to stand, as that used to be her viewpoint. She used to be the one who would say: 'No, come and stay with me, I'm going to help you'. She just can't do that anymore.
"I don't think Kim is a natural headteacher. It's not her natural position to be in. It's not personal enough for her and she has to put distance between her and the pupils. So her and Val find themselves at loggerheads over Danny."
Angela also spoke about Kim's position in charge of the school, after she nearly lost the role of headteacher in the last series.

She added: "It was all a bit shaky, because everything Kim does is for the good of the pupils and the school. For Lindon to have gone behind her back and doubted her professionalism really, really hurt and damaged her.
"But ultimately Kim will always put the kids first, hence why she comes back and tries to heal the wounds from the previous term. She comes back with her hackles up, definitely with Lindon but still wanting to heal the school."
Waterloo Road launches its new series on Tuesday, May 16 at 8pm on BBC One, with all episodes dropping on BBC iPlayer on the same day.
