Maps reveal the exact date a mini heatwave is expected to arrive, with top UK temperatures to hit 22C as the country basks in sunshine. Brits can anticipate a welcome change as maps indicate temperatures soaring to 22C next month, with highs of 18C on the North East.

April has been characterised by wet and windy conditions across much of the UK, and while it may be premature to stow away the umbrellas, there's an optimistic outlook for warmer weather ahead. In the upcoming week, temperatures are forecasted to climb into the high teens, and by May 13, WX Charts predict a peak of 18C for the region.

The warmth isn't confined to one region; forecasts suggest much of the country, from the South East to Glasgow and even the far north of Scotland, will enjoy temperatures in the low 20s. A significant shift is on the horizon over the next week, with sunny spells anticipated as warm air drifts northward from the Continent.

After a spell of rain, clearer skies are expected by Tuesday, with widespread mid to high teen temperatures, and maps indicating a potential UK high of 24C on May 3.

BBC weather presenter Louis Lear commented: "April 2024 has been pretty disappointing but hopefully we are going to be able to close out the month on something a little promising. It is certainly going to be a warmer story over the next few days, with some sunshine around. There will still be some rain at times, the winds not quite as strong but a notable breeze.", reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, Jim Dale, senior meteorologist at the British Weather Services, also hinted at a shift towards warmer weather. Speaking to the Express, he said: "Yes, it's certainly going in that direction. We'll get some 20C tasters long before the 13th but given the poor weather of late a switch-change is becoming more and more likely. Probably not in one go and I'm hesitant to put a figure on something 15 days away, but I do feel it will be a universal stepping out of the cold/cool into something notably warmer and in the end drier."
