Weather Timeline review

Featuring a neat design and accurate forecasts, Weather Timeline summarizes the weather for the next hour, the next 48 hours, and the next week, presenting it in an easy-to-scan timeline that cleverly uses colors and animated icons to reflect the prevailing weather conditions.

Pros

Outstanding design: Weather Timeline's standout feature turns out to be its design, which manages to be compact yet detailed at the same time, providing a location-based summary card which, when tapped, expands to show wind, humidity, sunset, visibility, actual temperature, moon phase, and pressure. Forecasts for the next days feature only essential information, to make them easy to check, but you can always tap on them to see more data.

Nifty extra features: In addition to its essential forecasting data, the app includes graphs for temperature, precipitation probability, and precipitation intensity, as well as an interactive Weather Radar, which allows you to view Clouds, Rain, or Temperature on a satellite map. The radar and the graphs are great for getting more in-depth weather data and can come in handy, especially when you're planning outdoor events or activities outside of cities.

Customizable widgets: The app includes a variety of widgets of all sizes, ranging from the basic weather card, a mini-version of what you see on the app's main screen, to tiny current temperature widgets -- all of them highly customizable, just like the app's interface itself.

Cons

Notifications bug: Regardless of the notification interval we chose, the app kept notifying us about the weather every five minutes or so, crowding our notification bar. The good news is that the developer is aware of this bug and will fix it in a future release.

Scrolling can be laggy sometimes: It's not a big issue, but it can happen when you try to look at forecasts five, six, or seven days from now. It breaks the flow of an otherwise smooth user experience.

Bottom Line

Weather Timeline beats most competing apps in terms of design and usability. Regardless of your location or the frequency with which you need to check the weather, this is a great little app to have.
