Wood Lane spinner Richard Hassall took seven wickets to lead his side to the points at Elworth in NSSCL Premier B.

Elworth appeared to be in good shape as Ali Usman (44) and Edward Parrish (31) helped them to 85-2 in pursuit of their 189-run target.

However, Hassall’s introduction into the attack instigated a big Elworth collapse.

Hassall took 7-32 as Elworth slumped to 113 all out.

Earlier in the day, Wood Lane reached 188-8 from their 45 overs, helped by Omar Ali’s half-century.

Ali’s 59 included four fours, while Danny Brierley (24) and Jake Thompson (23) also kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Devansh Trivedi claimed 3-53 and there were a couple of wickets for Russ Ballard.

Norton in Hales recorded just their second win of the campaign by seeing off Silverdale.

Norton in Hales powered their way to 216-8 on their trip to Underwood Road.

Half-centuries from Dane Tinsley and Rameez Aziz helped them on the way to an imposing total.

Tinsley’s 55 included five fours and two sixes, with Aziz hitting three fours and three maximums in his 51. Aaron Thomason (27), Jamie Evans (26no) and Jack Furnival (24) also made starts with the bat.

There were two wickets apiece for Ethan Sherriff, Syed Bukhari and Brandon Sherriff.

Matt Myatt’s 15 was the top score for Silverdale in reply as they were skittled for 101.

James Pringle led the Norton in Hales bowling attack, finishing with 5-26.

Knypersley’s bowlers were in fine fettle to set up their win at Leycett.

Three wickets apiece for Munir Ur Rehman Tanzil (3-7) and Paul Goodwin (3-10), allied to double strikes from Liam Hopkins and Jacob Cumberbatch, saw Leycett all out for 68.

Oliver Shirley and Dan Redfern contributed 13 and 10 respectively.

Redfern (3-10) and Amaan Tariq (3-14) starred after the interval, but Knype managed to secure a four-wicket success.

That was thanks to 15 from Tanzil and an unbeaten 13 from Jack Baker.

Caverswall banked the points from a rain-reduced contest at Whitmore.

The win/lose match was limited to 22 overs per side - and Caverswall managed to post 155-5.

Craig Grimley hit 68, including five fours and four sixes, with Eklavya Gupta’s 56 featuring four boundaries and the same number of maximums.

Lee Johnson and Matt McAll both picked up two wickets.

Ryan Roberts and Aaqil Mohideen contributed 25 apiece in reply, with Daniyal Hussain adding 21.

But Whitmore were dismissed for 146 as Thomas Caton helped himself to 5-32.

Eccleshall made home advantage count to beat Ashcombe Park in their meeting.

Skipper Dan Byatt compiled 82 not out to form the backbone of Eccleshall’s 195-6 from their 45 overs. He hit four fours and three sixes.

Rhys Owens lent support with 35, while Ben Rogerson (25) and Jack Knapper (23) also impressed.

Nathan Ball snared 3-60 for Ashcombe Park, with Anis Raza striking twice.

Phil Clowes (36) and Tom Ball (23) led the Ashcombe Park chase, but Ejaz Nawaz (4-28) and Owens (3-25) left the visitors all out for 122.

Leaders Newcastle & Hartshill made it eight wins from nine with victory at Alsager.

Castle set sail to their latest success by piling up 247-8, in which Muhammad Qamar Khan top-scored with 62.

Khan struck three fours and six sixes, with Jonathon Gidman adding 58, Ryan Hassett making 56, Rohan Vallabhaneni chipping in with 26 and James Cronie making 24.

Paceman Asif Raza took 4-51 for Alsager.

Aqeel Ahmed replied with 66, but Alsager were dismissed for 160 as spinners Cronie (3-42) and Harry Bailey (3-23) took three wickets each.

LEYCETT ran out comfortable seven-wicket winners at home against Wood Lane in NSSCL Premier B.

Wood Lane were skittled for a paltry 78 on their visit to Park Terrace on Saturday.

Muhammad Usman Ahmed and Matt Johnson did the damage, taking 4-23 and 3-19 respectively.

Omar Ali (29), Ben McGuire (19) and Joel Brierley (11) made the most headway with the bat.

Leycett had few concerns in knocking off the runs as Dan Redfern compiled 42 not out and Chris Sheperd chipped in with 20.

Leaders Newcastle & Hartshill saw their unblemished record ended as they were forced to hang on for a draw in a rain-affected game at Caverswall.

Hosts Caverswall amassed 187-9 declared from 34.4 overs early in the contest.

Eklavya Gupta smashed eight fours and eight sixes in his 94, with Lewis Wright adding 52 not out. Wright struck seven boundaries and one six.

Sachithra Perera snared 3-39 for Castle, with Harry Bailey and James Cronie sharing four wickets.

Newcastle & Hartshill had 24 overs to knock off the runs, but ended up having to salvage a draw as they drew stumps on 139-9.

Richard Parkes made 31, Jonathon Gidman and Muhammad Qamar Khan added 23 apiece and Harry Ford made 22 not out.

Thomas Caton (3-23) and two wickets apiece for Josh Need and Gupta pushed Caverswall close to victory before time ran out.

Silverdale were 10-1 from 4.4 overs at home against Eccleshall before the match was called off.

The games between Alsager and Elworth, Knypersley and Norton in Hales and Whitmore and Ashcombe Park never started because of the weather.
