Welcome back to the O.C., bitch! Rachel Bilson revives Summer Roberts to serve up cocktails in tequila ads

The actress reunited with "O.C." creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for the spots, which feature callbacks to the beloved show.

Chrismukkah has come early: Rachel Bilson is reviving her beloved O.C. role as Summer Roberts for a series of tequila ads for 21Seeds. (No rage blackouts included.)

The actress reunites with The O.C. creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who through their production company Fake Empire worked with the tequila brand to put together a series of nostalgic ads that feature delightful callbacks to the Fox teen drama.

Directed by Anna Mastro, each spot opens with “California” by Phantom Planet, the show’s famed theme song. In “The V.O.C.” spot, Bilson greets a pal with a play on a familiar catchphrase: “Welcome to the V.O.C., bitch!” It stands for valencia orange cocktails, she explains.

“Welcome to the O.C., bitch!” was popularized by Chris Carmack’s Luke Ward, who utters the line after a fight with Ryan Atwood, Ben McKenzie’s Newport Beach newcomer from Chino.

The “Paloma Party” spot, meanwhile, is a sharp callback to Mischa Barton’s memorable poolside meltdown as Marissa Cooper, whose pain over her parents' divorce leads to her tossing some patio furniture into the pool in a fit of rage.

Finally, “The Spicy Delivery” nods to Ryan and Marissa’s infamous first meeting and even features a McKenzie lookalike. The iconic “who are you?” “whoever you want me to be" exchange is included, only this time Bilson offers a signature Summer Roberts response: "Ew."

“Kidding,” says the doppelgänger, who’s there to deliver 21Seeds’ tequila shots.

“Stay for a spicy marg?” Bilson asks. “It’s delish.”

"Sorry," says the Ryan lookalike. "Next delivery is in Chino.”

The O.C., which ran for four seasons between 2003 and 2007, followed troubled teenager Ryan as he’s taken in by the Cohen family in the wealthy Orange County enclave of Newport Beach. He befriends son Seth Cohen (Adam Brody), and the two form a tight bond with neighbor Marissa and her best pal Summer.

Bilson’s tequila ads come just in time for the show’s 21st anniversary this August. “We’re very grateful to 21Seeds for extending the opportunity to revisit our first project together to celebrate its 21st birthday,” Schwartz said in a statement. “We’re constantly asked about a reunion or where our characters would be now, and this felt like a fun way to hang out with Summer Roberts again.”

21Seeds business director Adrienne Cuschieri called Summer Roberts the “total embodiment of a true 21Seeds fan” in her own statement. “She’s never too serious, brings everyone together, and is always down for a good time,” added Cuschieri.
