Welliestock festival is set to return to Wellington in 2025

IT has been six years this week since the last Welliestock took place, but on Tuesday the organisers announced that it would be returning for 2025.

Welliestock announced in a Facebook post on July 1: "Well people!!! We’re delighted to say that we can confirm we will all be meeting in a field in Wellington on July 5th 2025.

"Huge thanks to Wellington RFC for confirming this today, 6 years to the day after the last WELLIESTOCK.

"The lineup will be an incredible one with a few 'friends' returning. Now the hard work starts!!

"We’re also excited about holding Welliestocking in the Rugby Club on December 7th. I’m sure it’ll be a pretty cool lineup there also."

Until then we're looking back to 2017, when hundreds of people set up their deckchairs and enjoyed some great live music at Welliestock festival.

The grounds of Wellesley Park Primary School at Homefield were full to the brim with families on July 1 2017, as visitors enjoyed a cool drink, delicious food, and live music.

There were a number of stall holders at the festival including Silvains burgers, The Big Pan Theory, and an official Welliestock merchandise stall.

Paula Jenkins, a family support worker for Escape, a charity which provides opportunities, support and day trips for families of children with special needs across Somerset said at the time: "This is my first time at Welliestock and I am having a really great time.

"We have had a lot of people come over and take interest in the stall and in what we do which is always great for us.

"I wasn't expecting there to be quite as many people as there are here but I think everyone is having a really good time."

Welliestock began in 2014 and was last held in 2018. Its name was inspired by New York State’s iconic Woodstock festival in 1969.

The festival struggled to find a suitable venue ahead of 2018, and had been set to return in 2024.

This year on May 19 organisers announced that Welliestock wouldn't go ahead for 2024 due to "everything being far more expensive than 2018".
