If you haven't booked a holiday this month but you're still keen to get away from the stresses of life with a relaxing break, a coastal area right here in Wales could be just the thing.

The county of Pembrokeshire has been crowned the best place in the UK for a July holiday by the team of consumer experts at Which?, thanks to its pleasant temperatures, beautiful beaches and stunning places to stay.

Whether it's a fun-filled family holiday or a more relaxing solo trip, Pembrokeshire has something for everyone, and it's hugely popular with locals and tourists alike.

The area in south-west Wales has been previously described as 'Cornwall without the crowds', making it ideal if you want all the perks of a relaxing coastal holiday without too many people there. And this month is said to be the best time to visit and take a gamble on the changeable Welsh weather, with daily highs teetering close to 20C.

The historic harbour town of Tenby and the tiny city of St Davids have both ranked highly in Which? survey of best UK seaside towns, and the nearby Barafundle Bay is one of Britain’s most beautiful beaches - with its vivid blue waters and dune-backed secluded sands.

As well as the scenery, there's plenty of things to see and do in Pembrokeshire. History fans can get their fix by exploring castles such as Pembroke Castle or Picton Castle, wandering around the grounds and taking in the rich culture.

There are also plenty of nationally acclaimed galleries and museums, from Scolton Manor to the Haverford West Town Museum, not to mention countless cafes, bars and restaurants showcasing the very best local delights.

And there's certainly no shortage of things to do for families either. Paddleboarding, sea kayaking, go-karting and adventure playgrounds are just a few of the activities on offer, and if you really want to get a good look at the scenery, then the Pembrokeshire Coast path is a must. The 186 miles of trail visits coves and harbours, over 50 beaches, through vibrant towns and villages, brimming with life, culture and creativity.

You can find out more about activities and accommodation on the Visit Pembrokeshire website.
