West Brom wait on contract clarity ahead of pre-season training camp

West Bromwich Albion are set to make a return to St George's Park this summer for a camp and a couple of behind closed doors friendlies, as they prepare for the new Championship season - and they're waiting eagerly to discover who'll be joining them as they begin to look ahead to the new campaign's kick off. Albion spent a week at the home of England in Burton-upon-Trent last summer in order to ready themselves for their 46-match schedule.

Carlos Corberan, who also visited St George's Park with former club Huddersfield Town in 2021 before leading the Terriers to a third placed finish and a Wembley play-off final, is understood to be keen to remain in the UK in preparation for the new season as he wishes to tap into the climate and conditions which players are likely to be subjected to over the course of a season.

A number of Albion players are already back at the club's training ground, including long-term injury absentees Daryl Dike and Jayson Molumby who both missed the second half of last season because of serious set-backs - indeed Dike still has many months ahead of him before he can think about returning to competitive action, but Molumby is due to return to training.

The remainder of the squad are due to report to the training ground in the coming days this week for pre-season testing ahead of pre-season training, which is due to begin next Monday, 1 July. Albion's summer break has been a little shorter because of their play-off commitments which concluded a fortnight after the end of the regular calendar.

They will then head to St George's Park from Saturday 13 July to Saturday 20 July; they'll take on League One Bolton Wanderers (2pm), as they did last summer, while using the venue on the 13th, and then they'll face another third tier opponent in Peterborough United (1pm) on the 20th. In between, they will remain at St George's Park, before returning to their Walsall base for another fortnight of being put through their paces.

The Baggies, who are expected to announce another friendly for the weekend of the 27/28 July, already have a couple of fixtures pencilled in for the beginning of August which supporters can attend; on Friday 2 August they'll visit Cambridge United at The Abbey before taking on Birmingham City at St Andrew's a day later.

Albion will have a clearer idea of who will be joining them by then, as they embark on their next Championship adventure; the club offered three deals to senior players who were out of contract at the end of last season, and while there isn't an expectation that Cedric Kipre - last year's player of the season for supporters and teammates - will be returning, it's understood the club are more hopeful on the re-signings of Kyle Bartley and Alex Mowatt.

Albion have also offered deals to academy products Ted Cann, Fenton Heard, Deago Nelson, Ethan Ingram, Reyes Cleary, Archie Kirton, Evan Humphries and Adriel Walker. All players' contracts generally end on 30 June - this Sunday - the date which officially marks the end of the season.
