West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini has been named in Argentina's final squad for the World Cup.

Manager Jorge Sampaoli named a 35-man squad earlier this month and has now trimmed it to the final 23, with Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi, the top goalscorer in Serie A, the biggest omission.

Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero also makes the squad alongside Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo, Lionel Messi and former Liverpool man Javier Mascherano.

Sampaoli named just four forwards in his squad with Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain all selected.

That meant there was no place for Icardi, who scored 29 league goals for Inter this season.

Argentina, who lost in the World Cup final four years ago but only qualified for this year’s tournament thanks to a win in their final qualifying match, have been drawn in Group D alongside Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria.
