One of the highlights of Westworld season one was Sir Anthony Hopkins' performance as Dr Robert Ford, but (spoilers) he might have died in the last episode.

Obviously, everyone wants to the see the up-and-coming star of Transformers: The Last Knight, return for the second season, and showrunner Jonathan Nolan is all too happy to tease fans about a potential return.

"I think the sacrifice he makes at the end of the first season is very real," he said, before adding a big BUT.

"I think there will be an opportunity to explore a little bit more of the backstory of how this park came to be, a little more of that story.

"We'll see the character's presence will be felt in that sense in terms of filling in a few more of the gaps about the early history of this place."

Maybe this is just wishful thinking on our part, but this seems like vague media-trained person talk for 'we want to get him back for some flashbacks, but he's a busy guy so we'll see what happens'.

Hopkins himself previously said that he didn't know if he was returning yet, and with the series not due until 2018, we'll probably be waiting a while for official confirmation of who's back and who's not.
