Westworld promises 'chaos' in new season 2 poster

We all know that violent delights have violent ends in Westworld, but it appears they also have chaotic ends, as this latest poster for its second season promises.

After a series of online Easter egg hunts involving the show's cast and an abundance of cryptic clues – what else? – Westworld unveiled its official poster for season two yesterday.

The image shows a mechanical hybrid of a vulture looming over a black hat, which we know is never a good sign in Westworld. "Chaos takes control," the poster reads.

While we're sure there are several more subliminal messages hidden within the poster, at first glance it seems as though it's referencing the Man in Black – who's not exactly in the best shape...

Despite relentlessly teasing fans, Westworld's showrunner Jonathan Nolan recently admitted that he doesn't want the series to get too bogged down in its own intrigue.

Promising that season two will answer some of the biggest mysteries from its debut season, Nolan said: "We don't like to endlessly build mystery; we like to settle our debts...

"We want to feel like the show is rocketing ahead. The first season was a journey inward; this is a journey outward. It's a search for what else is in the park, and what else is beyond the park."

And that idea of going "beyond the park" is something Nolan expanded upon by suggesting that the sci-fi drama might soon be re-locating from its parks.

"This year is much more of a road show – Sweetwater isn't home anymore," he hinted.

Westworld returns to HBO in the US on April 22 and Sky Atlantic/NOW TV in the UK on April 23.
