A chef at Wetherspoons claims he has been suspended after filming "behind the scenes" videos showing how dishes are made at the popular pub chain.

The man, who goes by J Salsa on TikTok, made a series of viral videos demonstrating how chefs prepare meals like the full English breakfast and chicken korma.

Several were watched more than a million times, with viewers reacting positively to dishes that appeared to be made with fresh ingredients, while others lamented recipes that seemed to rely on pre-prepared food.

J Salsa posted a new video on Monday, in which he apologised to Wetherspoons boss Tim Martin for the videos and said he had been suspended pending the outcome of a disciplinary meeting.

He said in the clip that staff at the corporate headquarters had contacted the pub where he works.

J Salsa added: "My manager has had a meeting with me today about the whole thing, the whole situation. They were really calm about it, to be honest.

"They understood and I explained my point of view, it was a mistake. I didn't mean to cause no harm to the company.

"Long story short, I'm suspended until my disciplinary meeting where I will find out if I get fired or not.

"So no more Wetherspoons videos for now."

Viewers were disappointed when footage posted by J Salsa appeared to show a chicken korma being heated up from a package.

One said: "Think I'll just get a chicken korma from Tesco for £2.50."

Another asked: "You mean to tell me that I pay £7.50 for a microwave meal?"

But others appeared pleasantly surprised by the full English breakfast, with one person asking: "Wait they don't actually microwave everything[?]"

A spokesman for JD Wetherspoon declined to comment.
