Job-seeker dresses up as delivery guy to hand-deliver CVs in boxes of donuts

In a competitive market, job-seekers have to pull out all the stops in an attempt to get noticed.

And if that means hiding your CV in a box of donuts, then so be it.

This was the approach taken by one a canny Lithuanian, who knew he’d have to work extra hard to stand out from the crowd in the fast-moving San Francisco employment market.

25-year-old Lukas Yla relied on his experience as a marketing specialist to come up with his cunning plan, hoping to make his five year dream of working in San Fran come true.

The go-getter arrived in the U.S. in August, and his unusual job-seeking approach has already helped him secure job interviews at many of the city’s top ad agencies.

Dressing as a courier for delivery firm, Postmates, Yla personally delivered donuts to his target companies.

The boxes of treats contained a note with the link to his LinkedIn page, alongside this note: “Most resumes end up in trash. Mine - your belly.”

He told AdWeek that his campaign “might look like a stunt, but like many marketing campaigns, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.”

While he’s yet to secure a job, he’s certainly getting results - a 25 per cent hit rate so far. He said: “Over all I have delivered a little bit more than 40 packages and been in 10 interviews … most of them are still in progress.”

Fingers crossed for you, Lukas!
