What's on TV this week: From the Paramount+ launch to Glastonbury

If you feel like you've completed Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, you'll be pleased to know that another new streaming service launches in the UK this week - Paramount+, featuring some all-star casts in its original TV series and films.

Over on Channel 4, James Nesbitt detective drama Suspect is stripped across the early part of the week, while BBC One follows Anna Maxwell Martin's family tree in this week's Who Do You Think You Are?.

Don't miss the BBC's Glastonbury coverage this weekend as the festival returns from a three-year break with as starry a line-up as ever.

The best things to watch on TV this week, 20 - 26 June, 2022

Suspect - Channel 4, 9pm - Monday - Wednesday

James Nesbitt plays yet another troubled detective, this time discovering his estranged daughter is the unidentified body he has been called to the mortuary to attend.

Co-starring as the pathologist is Joely Richardson and each half-hour episode (two air each night from Monday to Wednesday) features Nesbitt meeting a different suspect from a cast including Anne-Marie Duff and Richard E. Grant.

Paramount+ launch - Wednesday

Yet another new streaming service launches this week, but if you can justify adding to your TV subscriptions, there's plenty to see here.

Paramount is providing a huge amount of TV and film content, with shows available on launch day including a series of videogame Halo, White House historical drama The First Lady featuring Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson, and an adaptation of The Man Who Fell To Earth starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris.

Also not to miss are The Offer which is a dramatisation of producer Albert S. Ruddy's experiences of making The Godfather, new Star Trek series Strange New Worlds, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Uma Thurman series Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber.

Lenny Henry's Caribbean Britain - BBC Two, 9pm - Wednesday

Comedian and actor Lenny Henry presents a two-part series on what it means to be both Caribbean and British.

Looking at his own background and experiences, he is joined by a number of other famous performers and artists to find out how earlier generations paved their way and integrated their culture into Britain.

Who Do You Think You Are? - BBC One, 9pm - Thursday

It's been a star-studded series of the BBC genealogy show and this week sees Line Of Duty and Motherland actor Anna Maxwell Martin take centre stage.

She discovers her grandfather Maxwell, whose name she adopted as her own stage name, was sent to an orphanage aged five and also uncovers shocking details of domestic abuse in some of her ancestors' lives.

Taskmaster: Champion of Champions 2022 - Channel 4, 9pm - Thursday

It's the second ever Champion of Champions title race for the comedian challenge show, as five series winners return to prove they are the best.

Ed Gamble, Kerry Godliman, Liza Tarbuck, Lou Sanders and Richard Herring take on the tasks, overseen by Greg Davies and Alex Horne.

Glastonbury - BBC - Friday - Sunday

The festival returns this weekend and after three years away, the atmosphere is sure to be better than ever before.

If you didn't manage to get tickets or just couldn't face the camping, the BBC has you covered - tune in for front row views of headliners Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar, as well as a hugely eclectic line-up of other performers.

Murder In The Alps - Channel 4, 9pm - Sunday

This three-part true-crime documentary explores the horrifying case of computer engineer Saad Al-Hilli, his dentist wife Ikbal and her mother Suhaila, who were found killed in the woods near Lake Annecy and whose murders went unsolved for 10 years.

Eventually, Saad's brother Zaid was arrested and accused of organising the murders over an inheritance dispute.
