The Fortune Hotel returned to screens on Wednesday night for its third episode, as viewers have had mixed reviews of the series. Some have branded it as a 'rip off' to BBC hit show The Traitors.

Following the launch of ITV's latest entertainment series on Monday, the programme hosted by Stephen Mangan, presented contestants with ten briefcases at the luxury hotel as they awaited to see their fate.

One held an attractive £25,000, eight were hollow, and one contained the early checkout card, signifying an imminent exit for the unfortunate pair holding it at each episode's conclusion. Throughout the series, challengers participate in various tasks, keeping viewers informed about the carriers of each briefcase.

Every episode culminates in the participants heading to the Lady Luck Bar, where they deliberate keeping or swapping their case, all for the chance to win the significant money prize.

Been watching and fancy a getaway? You will need to dig deep into your bank book as rooms start at around £700. For those willing to splash the cash, luxury beachfront villas cost more than £6,000 per night.

Silversands Grenada, which features the longest pool in the Caribbean, two luxury dining areas, a rum and cigar bar, a spa, a sauna and ice cave, and a gym, opened its doors for visitors in 2018. There are 43 hotel suites and eight residential villas in the complex, some which feature private pools and gardens.

Elsewhere, Wednesday's challenge saw the pairs split into two teams of red and blue. Later on in the show at the Lady Luck bar they found out their fate, although it ended on a cliffhanger with the possibility Scots pair Susan and Jen could be leaving.

Meanwhile, viewers have taken to social media to air their thoughts after the programme has aired its first few episodes. One person wrote: "The Fortune Hotel really doesnt work as a gameshow Theres zero impetus to actually try and find the money until the end. Everyone just sticks with their briefcase each time unless they have the leaving card. Wheres the incentive in finding the briefcase with the money in?"

Another viewer added: "The Fortune Hotel meets The Traitors meets Deal or no Deal most boring shitfest of a programme I've seen! #thismorning," as a third simply commented: "Tried Episode 2 of the Fortune Hotel. It isn’t any better."

However some fans have enjoyed the ITV show, as one commented: "Enjoying The Fortune Hotel, thanks to @StephenMangan #TheFortuneHotel," and another wrote: "I’m hooked on The Fortune Hotel. Some terrible gameplay already."

The Fortune Hotel kicked off on Monday, May 13 on ITV 1 and ITV X at 9pm. There will be eight 60-minute episodes in total. The following episodes will be shown on consecutive nights in the same time slot.
