It already sparked substantial curiosity from viewers, before its launch last week, thanks to its rather sinister sounding storyline and, on Wednesday night, The Red King will continue on Alibi with some well known faces in its cast.

The Red King is the creator of Doctor Who writer Toby Whitehouse. the man also responsible for other hit dramas like Being Human and Noughts & Crosses and focuses on the exploits of disgruntled copper Grace Narayan. The character, played by Vigil and Bodyguard star Anjli Mohindra, is sent the tiny fictional island of St. Jory as she tries to get to the bottom of the unsolved case of missing teenager Cai, having to navigate the strange and unwelcoming locals and their connection to a cult as she searches for answers.

The Red King cast also includes Jill Halfpenny and Marc Warren and, while TV viewers will get their first look at the show on April 24, it caused quite a stir amongst local when it was filmed in Northumberland last year. As well as Anjili being spotted waiting to film in her police uniform, some of the rather menacing masks worn by the supporting actors playing the cult members, were also caught on camera.

We’ve been to Alnwick and Alnmouth, along with the beautiful coastal area of Craster.

"We’ve also been to a lovely village called Embleton. Each place is just so rich and beautiful. I feel really lucky to have spent time here as it’s so breath-taking."
