Where are the stars of The Craft now?

In 1996 everybody wanted to be a witch.

J K Rowling gets the credit for making witchcraft and wizardry back to the fore, but The Craft was there first, and this lot were way more fun. Hermione Granger eat your heart out.

The story of the new girl in town (Robin Tunney) who gets in with the outsider faction and dabbles with the dark arts, it was a tale of female empowerment, wish fulfilment, embracing your sisters and loving yourself. Until it all goes tits up and your friends start trying to kill you, that is.

Director Andrew Fleming never again achieved the heights of The Craft (Nancy Drew, Hamlet 2, anyone?), but a sequel has been optioned with Honeymoon director Leigh Janiak currently in the frame. Will it ever happen? Who knows? We can't tell the future, because magic doesn't exist in real life.

On The Craft's 21st anniversary, though, here's what the girls and their schoolmates are up to now.

1. Fairuza Balk (Nancy)

After playing the maniac coven leader, Fairuza stayed in movies, often playing goths and outsiders (eg American History X). More recently roles have been less high profile, with Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans, the last biggy.

She's into music and art now though, releasing a single called 'Stormwinds' in 2010 under the name Armed Love Militia and creating and exhibiting her own art.

She will always be Nancy to us.

2. Neve Campbell (Bonnie)

1996 made Campbell a superstar with Scream hitting the same year as The Craft. She was back for the fourth outing in 2011 which was probably last significant big-screen movie she made.

She had her first child with actor husband J J Feild in 2012, and now she's moved into event TV with appearances on Mad Men and Grey's Anatomy as well as a recurring role in Season 4 of House Of Cards.

3. Robin Tunney (Sarah)

Tunney has worked steadily since The Craft, including appearances with Arnie in End Of Days and more recently with Ben Affleck in Hollywoodland, as well as picking up parts in TV shows such as House and Prison Break.

Tunney is a bit of a poker whizz too, and has played in the World Series Of Poker tournament.

4. Rachel True (Rochelle)

Clearly a real witch given how little she seems to have aged, Rachel True's acting career wasn't quite as magic post-The Craft. As well as a range of parts in small movies, she had a lead role in sitcom Half & Half until 2006. Most recently she can be spotted in Sharknado 2: The Second One and mock doc Sharknado: Heart Of Sharkness.

5. Skeet Ulrich (Chris)

Ulrich joined Neve Campbell in the double-whammy of Scream. Sadly for him it wasn't a role that he could carry on through the franchise.

Ulrich picked up significant roles in As Good As It Gets as well as Paul Schrader's Touch and Ang Lee's Ride With The Devil. These days you'll find him doing voice work on Robot Chicken and horror movie The Mystery Of Casa Matusita with Malcolm McDowell.

6. Christine Taylor (Laura)

The Craft's resident mean girl, Laura, Taylor has established herself as a successful comedy actress with major roles in Dodgeball, Zoolander, The Wedding Singer and of course The Brady Bunch movies.

She's also done a fair bit of TV with guest appearances in Seinfeld, Friends, My Name Is Earl and Arrested Development.

Taylor is married to Ben Stiller and they have a couple of kids together.

7. Breckin Meyer (Mitt)

Once the go-to stoner guy in movies such as Clueless and Escape From LA, Meyer maintained a steady career with decent roles in 54, Road Trip and Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past.

More recently he too has shifted into TV, doing voice work for shows such as King Of The Hill but also writing and exec producing. In fact he was the creator of the show Men At Work, which finished in 2014.

Meyer is the drummer in punk band The Street Walkin' Cheetahs. He's also married to Josie And The Pussycats co-director Deborah Kaplan, with whom he has 2 daughters.
