The White House celebrated St Patrick’s Day on Wednesday, March 17, by dyeing its North Lawn fountain green, timelapse footage shows.

On Tuesday, senior administration officials held a background press call announcing Vice President Kamala Harris’s and President Joe Biden’s virtual bilateral meetings with the prime minister of Ireland, Micheál Martin, according to the White House.

“Unfortunately, the pandemic is preventing the traditional White House celebration of St Patrick’s Day, which is something that dates back to 1952,” a National Security Council spokesperson said at a press briefing. “But despite the pandemic, we are determined to fully celebrate the holiday in recognition of … our strong bilateral ties with Ireland.”
