Who Ya Gonna Call? Ghostly Figure Captured Peering From Window Of Derelict Asylum

Do you see dead people?

This is the chilling image that appears to show a shadowy figure peering from the first-floor window of a former psychiatric hospital - despite the facility being closed for more than 15 years.

The asylum in Bronllys, Brecon, Wales, also acted as a Prisoner of War camp in the Second World War where captured German soldiers were incarcerated.

But after the war, it housed psychiatric patients who were often lobotomised for misunderstood conditions - such as postnatal depression, senile dementia and alcoholism.

At least one patient is known to have died at the facility - after a pre-frontal lobotomy went wrong.

The unsettling image was captured by Adam Smith, as he walked past the outside of the derelict building.

Adam said: ‘I caught an epic shot of a ghost at the abandoned Brecon and Radnor Lunatic Asylum.

Maybe it was a patient who had a lobotomy or perhaps a soldier patient from the war or maybe a Nazi prisoner.

‘Whatever it was, it certainly gave me a fright.’

But the post has now gone viral - and attracted a whole legion of ghost hunters to the facility.

He said: ‘Since I uploaded the post it went viral.

‘I started to get messages from local residents and councillors asking me that I remove it because 100s of people were turning up at the hospital to try to find the ghost.’

The building opened up in 1903 and was one of more than 100 ‘lunatic asylums’ across Britain.

It had padded cells which were later converted to prison cells during the war.

They were still visible in the 1990s, before the site was fully closed by 1999.
