Why there was heavy police presence in Sutcliffe Avenue as man arrested
A man was arrested in Sutcliffe Avenue this afternoon after police were called to the area.
Concerned residents saw a number of police cars in the street and initially believed officers were carrying out a raid at one of the properties. But it turned out a man had been trying to break into a house and he was arrested at the scene.
Humberside Police said the suspect is now in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary. Officers are now appealing for witnesses or people with information to come forward who may be able to help their investigation.

In a statement, the force said: "We were called at around 12.25pm to reports of a man attempting to gain entry to a property on Sutcliffe Avenue in Grimsby this afternoon (Friday 19 April). Officers were deployed and a man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted burglary."
Humberside Police asked for anyone with information or who was in the area around the time to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 192 of 19 April.
