There aren't many actors who have range spanning everything from Neighbours to comic book movies to period biopics, but Margot Robbie manages to nail it every time.

Despite her success as an actress, Margot has admitted that her most recent – and arguably one of her most famous – roles felt above her.

Speaking to the Australian edition of OK! Magazine, Margot admitted that she didn't feel "deserving" of playing Queen Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots.

Robbie, who plays the Tudor monarch alongside Saoirse Ronan's Mary Stuart, explained (via MailOnline): "I didn't go to drama school. I didn't go to university.

"I had it in my head that in order to play such a prominent historical character, I should be well-versed in this world."

Reflecting on actors who have portrayed Elizabeth I in the past, including Dame Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett, Margot revealed that she didn't feel like she measured up.

"I was like, 'I don't belong in that group,'" she said. "They're insane. They're so good."

Proving her range yet again, Margot Robbie recently confirmed that she will produce and star in an upcoming film all about Barbie. Yep, really.

Announcing the project, she defended the sometimes-controversial image Barbie portrays, arguing: "Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery.

"Over the brand's almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president."

Adding that she is "honoured" to play Barbie, Margot promised the film will "have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide".

Mary Queen of Scots is out in UK and US cinemas tomorrow (January 18).
