A Worcestershire village has been named among the best places to raise a family in the UK, in a new list by the Daily Mail.

The newspaper said it has approached property experts and looked at surveys and statistics to come up with the list.

Introducing the list, it said: “Choosing where to buy a home and settle down as a family can be one of life's most important decisions.

“The implications on your finances and family's happiness are huge.

“From low crime rates to good schools and local amenities, there are so many boxes to tick that it can be hard to know where to start.”

Cofton Hackett in Worcestershire has been named one of the best places to raise a family and joins the likes of Larkhall in Bath, Cardigan in Wales and West End in Dundee which all feature on the list.

What did the Daily Mail say about Cofton Hackett?

The Daily Mail said: “Sitting slap bang on the dividing line between Birmingham and Worcestershire, Cofton Hackett is flooded with open green space, and is just a few minutes' drive from the Lickey Hills Country Park and also has easy access to larger cities such as Birmingham and Worcester.”

The average house price in Cofton Hackett is £410,930, according to the research.

The Daily Mail highlighted one property that is currently on the market, at the time of writing.

It is a five-bedroom detached family home with three reception rooms, a southernly aspect garden which is said to be “stunning” and offers views of the Lickey Hills.

When it comes to schools local to the village, it said: “Nine out of ten of Worcestershire's state schools are rated good or outstanding. It is also home to highly rated independent schools including Malvern College.”

It also detailed childcare costs with children aged two or above able to attend full-time nursery for £261.44 per week.

It will cost £269 for those with children aged under two years old to attend for the same time per week.
