Get your body ready, because there are a load of new emojis on the way.

Apple is getting ready to release its iOS 11.1 operating system for iPhones and iPads — and included in the update are "hundreds" of new emojis, from mermaids to monocles, sledges, giraffes, broccoli, climbing, and more.

Apple doesn't invent new emojis itself — they're decided by the Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organisation.

But once the Consortium comes up with a new version, its up to the tech companies themselves (whether that's Apple, Google, Microsoft, or whoever) to actually create their own versions and implement them. (This new update, Unicode 10.0, was actually released back in June 2017.)

This is why not all tech companies get new emojis at the exact same time — some companies are lazier than others, basically.

There's also one that looks a look like the devil horns/rock hand gesture — but it's actually based on an American Sign Language hand sign and means "I love you."
