Winds Rake Over Isla Mujeres as Hurricane Michael Passes

Hurricane Michael sped from the Caribbean Sea into the Gulf of Mexico on Monday, October 8, passing western Cuba and the eastern Yucatan on its way.

Michael passed much closer to Cuba than the Mexican peninsula, giving Pinor del Rio province a pounding with heavy rains and strong winds. On Isla Mujeres, just off the coast from Cancun, Mexico, wind and rain were less powerful, as this walk down the beach shows. Credit: Virginia Puerto Osorio via Storyful
