A UK wine expert has claimed he ‘can’t serve’ one celebrity rosé wine despite it receiving five star reviews. Tom Gilbey, who recently made a name for himself by drinking a glass of wine every mile at the London Marathon, put two celebrities' roses to the test.

In one of his recent TikTok videos Tom compared Gary Barlow’s Organic Rosé to Kylie Minogue’s Signature Rosé 2023. As summer has finally rolled around, Tom said he is “knee deep” in rosé for the season.

Testing them out, he said: “First, Kylie. I love the colour, it’s coral pink, salmon pink, chug it all day colour. It’s strawberries on the nose, very fresh.

“It’s short, simple and fruity, a little bit like you Kylie. Love it.”

Taking a look at Gary’s rosé, the first thing Tom noticed was its deep pink colour. “You are a quid more expensive but you’re jolly cheap, and you’re organic,” he said. “So really quite deep colour… and I’ve got more ripeness, sort of more peaches and strawberry on the nose.

“It’s a little bit richer. And Gary, mate, you’ve done really quite a good rose. I reckon your rosé, like your concerts, probably get a five star review in The Guardian.

“But mate, I can’t serve pink wine that colour and I know I’m going to get ripped apart for that. But rosé for me, salmon pink, coral pink, fruity as like, Kylie every day.”

Tom’s video has been viewed over 44,100 times, racking up 3,060 likes and 38 comments, at the time of writing. Wine fans shared their own thoughts on the celebrity rosés in the replies.

Moreen McGuire said: “Gary Barlow all day long. I love it. Gets me tipsy. In fact, I get rather more than tipsy. Whatever I did, whatever I said, I didn’t mean it.”

Rosie said: “Rosé HAS to be so light it’s almost clear for me.” And Ian Hughes added: “Yeah I stay away from the deep pink stuff, as normally way too sweet. Even if it isn’t, my mind would tell me it was.”

Although not every agreed, TikTok user Big boy jacko said: “Can’t back you here Mr Gilbey, some of the best rosés are deep in colour, they’re intensely fruity, more complex... You are in a position to battle the dark=sweet rosé stigma, but you throw it aside.”

Jennie said: “I've tried both of those and hated both!” Callie78 said: “My god…. Gary Barlow's looks like watered down Vimto.”
