January usually means keeping the heating on and trudging through bad weather but for a handful of Brits, the start of 2020 is going to be a little more exciting.

For the first time ever, a winter series of Love Island will air as ITV transports a typically glam cast to South Africa - which obviously isn’t an island but we’ll let that one slide.

The broadcaster has revealed the first full trailer for the series, which sees voiceover artist Iain Stirling declare: “Winter you can take your frostbite and stick it where the sun don’t shine.”

“This year our heads have been tuned.”

As envy-inducing shots of a villa and people in swimwear play, the Scottish star continues: “We'll be covering ourselves in glitter and dancing around the fire pit. And there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Presenter Caroline Flack, who will be back in charge of the all-important dumpings and hosting spin-off show After Sun, adds: “Sorry winter, you're just not our type.”

ITV are yet to confirm when the series will air but we do know it will start in January and remain on our screens for six weeks.

The regular summer series will then return in its usual June slot.

While just a handful of the relationships formed in the villa this year have lasted, a number of the Islanders have forged successful careers in showbiz.

Curtis Pritchard landed a cameo in RuPaul's Drag Race UK and will also appear on The Greatest Dancer next year.

Meanwhile, Amber Gill and Molly-Mae Hughes have released their own fashion ranges.
