A 111-year-old woman who is now the oldest person in Spain has shared the secret to her long life.
Angelina Torres Vallbona, who lives in a flat in Eixample, Barcelona, and is only two months away from her 112th birthday, has claimed that she has never been sick.
She secured the crown after the passing of Maria Branyas, who was also from Catalonia. However, Maria was actually the oldest person in the world at 117 years prior to her death last August.

Meanwhile, the death of 113-year-old Piedad Loriente from Aragon in November means she is now also the oldest person in Spain. Angelina told EFE that there is, in fact, "no secret" to her remarkably long life, reports Andalucía Información.
She revealed that she simply enjoys a daily breakfast consisting of "a glass of water with a few drops of lemon and a teaspoon of sugar".
While there is clear health issues around sugar, there are also several benefits when it comes to lemon juice. The fruit is a good source of vitamin C, with research showing foods rich in the nutrient can reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.
They also help prevent anemia by improving the absorption of iron from plant foods. Despite this, she added that she also enjoyed taking long walks when she was able to and strived to be "friends with everyone".
The supercentenarian has been described as an angel by the people around her, but Angelina doesn't agree, saying: "I am no angel, I like to get on with everyone."
She went on to say that she suffers a "lot for others" and for "people who don’t have anything", before adding that she would "like us all to be happy".
Born in Bellvís on March 18, 1913, Angelina was the fifth of seven siblings. Sadly, her father passed away when she was only three, and the family later moved to Barcelona.
Angelina struck out into the tie-making profession with a firm called Vinilos y Vidal and would go on to work as an apprentice in a dressmaker's shop.
It occurred prior to the bloody Spanish Civil War, in which Angelina says she "suffered a lot". Once the war was over, she married Josep Martí and went on to have a daughter, Mercè, grandchildren, Gemma and Xavi, and three great-grandchildren: Pol, Marc and Mar Joana.
She added that she was "lucky" to meet her great-grandchildren, describing them as "handsome" and declaring her thanks that she was able to mark Christmas with her family and that she'd "had a good time".
In addition, Angelina also highlighted that she had seen the Basílica de la Sagrada Família "grow stone by stone", adding that it "turned out beautiful".
Finally, the 111-year-old offered heartwarming insights into her life, saying that she "had many friends" who "loved me a lot" and she "laughed a lot" and "enjoyed my family".
