Woman's nose broken in Northfield train attack as police issue image of man who could have information

A woman suffered a broken nose and a man was struck in the chest in an attack on board a Birmingham train. Police issued a picture of a man who could have information.

British Transport Police said the pair were talking to a man when she suddenly kicked them on a train from Birmingham New Street bound for Northfield. The incident happened at almost midnight on Saturday, May 11.

No arrests have been made. Police inquiries continue.

In a statement, BTP said: "Detectives investigating a report of an assault on board a train from Birmingham New Street to Northfield are today releasing this image in connection. At around 11.45pm on Saturday 11 May, the victims were talking to a man when he suddenly kicked one of them in the chest and the other in the face, breaking her nose.

"Officers believe the man in the image may have information that could help their investigation. Anyone who recognises him, or has any other information, is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 891 of 11 May. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
