What better way to celebrate the long-awaited release of Wonder Woman than with an all-woman screening?

Well, as much as it might sound like a fitting tribute to cinema finally giving the Amazonian warrior her own solo movie – or any female superhero her own solo movie, come to think of it – there are some people out there who disagree. (Sigh.)

After the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas embraced girl power and announced its screening exclusively for "People Who Identify As Women", there were, predictably, a few men feeling left out.

Following the cinema's announcement on Facebook, the lasso of truth revealed that there are still some men out there who are out to spoil the fun with usual pigheaded aplomb.

"Imagine the shitstorm if there was any male only showing of anything," one user wrote. "[O]r a private showing for a specific race or sexual orientation...Nah, it's SJW approved."

Another commented: "Just go guys, and say you identify as a female", while one user cynically asked if there would be a 'clown only screening' for IT. (Now that's not a bad idea.)

But when one user asked the Alamo Drafthouse if they'd "ever hosted a men's only showing of any film", they got their poetic comeuppance.

"We've never done showings where you had to be a man to get in," the cinema replied. "[B]ut we *did* show the Entourage movie a few years ago."

And the cinema's social team have been dishing out level-headed responses like that to anyone making any kind of complaint about their decision to host a women-only screening, so it seems Alamo Drafthouse has absolutely no time for your moaning.

Wonder Woman finally hits cinemas on June 1 in the UK and June 2 in the US, and luckily for both male and female fans alike, it's apparently one of the best DCEU films yet.

That sequel can't come soon enough. Sorry not sorry guys.
