They may have split in 2009 but Oasis are still landing hits.

The band scooped the top four places in a poll to find the greatest British songs.

Wonderwall was crowned the winner, with Don’t Look Back In Anger at two, Champagne Supernova at three, followed by Live Forever.

In total the band, above in their ’90s pomp, fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, below, had five tracks in the top 20.

Songwriter Noel, 48, said: “I’m thrilled. Thanks for voting.”

More than 50,000 votes were cast in the Best Of British poll by music station Radio X.

One of its presenters, Dan O’Connell, said: “Oasis’ status as an iconic British band is unrivalled.

“Since bursting on to the scene in the ’90s, their music has become a huge part of British culture and Radio X listeners’ lives.”

Two hits by the late David Bowie – Heroes and Life On Mars? – made the top 10.

And The Rolling Stones came in at No10 with Gimme Shelter.

Many music fans will be surprised that The Beatles’ highest placing was 13, attained by their 1968 classic Hey Jude.
