Wor Flags deliver 'inspirational' end of season display as Newcastle United face Brighton

Newcastle United supporters group Wor Flags have delivered their final display of the 2023-24 campaign as The Magpies welcomed Brighton to St James' Park.

The display was a nod to history, splitting the the club's first ever club-specific crest which was created in 1976 and ran until 1983. The badge which had a Magpie on top of the City's Castle Keep as well as the River Tyne running through it was split into to for today's display. The Magpie was put in the Leazes opposite the Castle Keep in the Gallowgate.

Black and White stripes were used in the East Stand while banners used at Wembley in last year's League Cup Final was used on Level Seven.

Speaking to Chronicle Live, Wor Flags said: "Today’s end-of-season display is a testament to the progress the club has made in the last two seasons, epitomised by the push for European football for a second season running.

"Inspired by the strength of our city and the solid foundations it is built on, the display includes a castle tower, a hint at both castle keep and the coat of arms, and a magpie that, alongside the castle tower, is a nod to one of our classic club crests.

"To qualify for the Champions League was something we could only dream of a few years ago, and to clinch European football once again would be very special. Thank-you to everyone who has helped with the displays this season and to those who have donated - without your help and contribution, we couldn't do what we do."
