Workers at Apple Genius Bar ‘stole and rated nude photos from customers’ phones’

Four staff members at an Apple store have been sacked after they were allegedly caught stealing explicit photos from customers’ phones and sharing them.

The male workers, who worked at the Genius Bar in the store in Carindale, Queensland, Australia, are also alleged to have rated the photos out of 10 between themselves.

They also took close up shots of female members of staff and customers, according to anther anonymous worker.

The whistleblower told the Courier-Mail: “One person would take a photo and add it to the chat and others would give the person or their butt or their boobs a rating out of 10 and they would add their own side commentary.

“Everyone feels uncomfortable and the female staff don’t know how to feel because the leadership won’t tell staff who is involved.”

The men were apparently caught when another staff member walked in on a technician looking at pictures on a customer’s phone.

Apple investigated the incident and four men had been sacked, although the tech giant has since claimed there was “no evidence that customer data or photos were inappropriately transferred or that anyone was photographed by these former employees”.

The company said in a statement: “Apple believe in treating everyone equally and with respect and we do not tolerate behaviour that goes against our values”

They added: “We have met with our store team to let them know about the investigation and inform them about the steps Apple is taking to protect their privacy.”
