WSJ Staff Run in London to Mark 1 Year of Colleague's Detainment in Russia

Staff from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) staged runs in cities around the world on Wednesday, March 27, to mark one year since their colleague Evan Gershkovich was detained in Russia.

Footage from video journalist Eve Hartley shows a group of WSJ employees running in London, with t-shirts reading “Run for Evan” and “#IStandWithEvan”.

Hartley said the group completed a 5-kilometer run.

Other groups of Gershkovich’s colleagues ran in India, Australia, Japan, and many other locations across the globe.

Gershkovich has been held on spying charges, which he denies, since March 29, 2023.

The runs are part of series of events rallying support for Gershkovich, which also included a Read-A-Thon and a Global Swim for Evan at several Brighton beaches around the world. Credit: Eve Hartley/WSJ via Storyful
