X Factor 2016: HUGE twist planned for live shows

The official countdown to Christmas is on, with the X Factor live shows kicking off this weekend, and now we’re even more excited because a huge new twist has been announced.

This week’s theme “Express Yourself” asks the 12 finalists to choose a song to showcase who they are, as they take to the X Factor stage for the first time on Saturday night.

However, in future weeks, the song theme will be chosen completely at random by an onstage mechanical jukebox (Yes, REALLY).

At the end of the nail-biting results show each Sunday night, Dermot O’Leary will invite a special guest on stage to spin a giant jukebox, which will reveal what the following week’s theme will be.

Themes up for grabs include Oscars, Boy Band vs Girl Band, Disco, Motown, 80’s, Divas and our personal favourite… Louis Loves (aka The Louis Walsh collection), so expect at least one Westlife track in there.

Meanwhile the X Factor finalists are currently in rehearsals at Fountain Studios in London ahead of their live show debut.

The Final 12 are:

Sharon Osbourne’s Overs: Honey G, Relley C, Saara Aalto.

Nicole Scherzinger’s Boys: Matt Terry, Freddy Parker, Ryan Lawrie.

Simon Cowell’s Girls: Emily Middlemas, Sam Lavery and Gifty Louise.

Louis Walsh’s Groups: Bratavio, Brooks Way, 5 After Midnight.

Some of the acts have already revealed their song choices while others remain a mystery, so tune into ITV on Saturday 8th October at 8pm to discover the complete X Factor: Week 1 Live Shows tracklist.
